CYTO 2022 Plenary- Game Changing Tech & Imaging Cytometry
Speaker: Helen McGuire
Dr Helen McGuire is a Senior Research Fellow within the Infection, Immunity & Inflammation theme, of School of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, at the University of Sydney. Her research focus and interests lie in the clinical application of immunological studies to a range of human diseases, and she is particularly passionate about applying recent technological advances such as genomic cytometry, mass cytometry and imaging mass cytometry to conduct comprehensive immunophenotyping studies. She is an ISAC Marylou Ingram Scholar and the current President of the Australasian Cytometry Society.
Speaker: Idan Milo
Dr. Milo completed his B.Sc. in Bio-medical engineering at the Ben-Gurion University, Israel, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in immunology at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, with Prof. Guy Shakhar. In 2014 he joined the lab of Dr. Philippe Bousso in Pasteur Institute, France, and set up a system that enabled the in vivo imaging of a B cell lymphoma tumor model. This technique helped him to provide direct evidence that immune pressure shapes the level of intratumor genetic heterogeneity and have important implications for the design of therapeutic strategies.
In 2020 he joined as an associate researcher the lab of Dr. Keren in the Department of Molecular Cell Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science. Dr. Milo’s research focuses on studying tumor-immune interactions using multiplexed imaging. These studies enable him to discover features of the tumor-immune microenvironment from rich multiplexed-imaging data and employ them to infer design principles in tumor immunology.
